Happy New Year 2022!

Denis O' Sullivan • 22 January 2022

First stop... Iceland!

Welcome to the 1st edition of my blog for 2022.. Happy New Year!!

It's been 6 months since I posted my last blog and I'm happy to say it's been a wonderful 6 months living here in Gearhanagoul, out in the wilds, pure inspiration! It's been a hugely creative time for me, I wrote a number of new songs for my album, upgraded my studio to record said album and am constantly working on keeping my live show updated for a future tour. It's been 7 years since my 1st show in the Pav in 2015 and 5 years since I did my last show in The Haven in 2017 so to say I'm itching to go again would be an understatement! Recently I recorded 3 rough guide tracks of some new material which I uploaded to my Soundcloud page for demo purposes. They can also be heard on my music page.

I also upgraded my camera kit to include a Canon Eos M50 MKII and a GoPro Hero 10 so I've really upped my game in that field! I'm also upgrading my knowledge by doing online photography courses and watching tutorials on youtube in preparation for my trip to Iceland.
Here's a recent photo I took with the Canon camera on the beautiful Beara Peninsula, Cork, Ireland.

and here's a video I took with my GoPro attached to the roof of my van on that same drive around the Beara Peninsula (which I sped up by a factor of 20x)

I also posted a new Photo Gallery of 111 photos from 2021 which you can find in my Photos Page

2021 Photo Gallery (111 photos)

My move to Vimeo didn't work out, a complete waste of time and money in fact but a lesson well learned all the same. Anyway I moved all my videos back onto my Youtube channel where they will stay forever more! Sharing and subscribing is always welcome!

and last but by no means least I turn 55 years young in a week so I decided to celebrate this milestone in my life by treating myself to a bucket list holiday to Iceland! It's always been a dream of mine to visit Iceland and even more so since I got into photography so next week I'm off on a week's adventure, photographing and filming to stunningly beautiful Iceland! I'm also hopeful that I'll get to perform a song or two at an open mic or something like that while I'm there. That would be the icing on the proverbial cake!
Needless to say I'll be posting photos and videos while I'm there and upon my return I plan to make a documentary and a music video.
That'll be for my next blog!

So that's me for now, as usual I'm active most days on facebook so if you wish you can connect with me there.
Things are looking good for a live music filled Spring/Summer season so 2022 is shaping up nicely already!

I wish you all well for the year ahead and I'll be posting a new blog here in a month or so, after my adventure to Iceland!

Peace & Love,

Denis...

Hello and welcome to the latest edition of my blog! 2020 has been a year like no other and with no end in sight to our current plight it is important to keep on keeping on with the the belief that one day soon we will once again find ourselves in a World where we can move about freely and meet and hold each other without fear, that is a day we will welcome with open arms. In the meantime we are blessed with technology which enables us to communicate with each other like never before. This too will pass and we will get through it!

2020 has been a turbulent year, to put it mildly, containing events that have changed my life forever. The year began with dreams and plans of touring but that was soon brought to a halt when I was informed that I needed a hip replacement so I adapted to survive, what's another year I told myself. Soon after that came the Covid-19 virus and with it a total Worldwide lockdown. Life as we knew it has changed forever and as we're still in the middle of it who knows how it's going to turn out? Once again I adapted to survive. It's what we do or we die. Humanity has shone it's brightest lights during this time and there is a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of this time to bring about much needed change in our society, only time will tell I guess. More recently though and by far the most difficult event for me to adapt to, and still is, was the passing of my Mother.
